Function:
-
These valves are used in conjuction with air preparation units (FRL's).

When a signal is applied to the valve, air pressure in the downstram side builds up gradually through an adjustable needle, until the
downstream pressure reaches 50-80% of the inlet pressure, after which the valve opens fully. when the valve is deenergised, the downstream pressure is dumped to the atmosphere. (a silencer may be provided in the exhaust port to dampen the dumping noise.)

Application:
These valves are used as a a safety device to prevent the risk of sudden impact of air, on valves / cylinders / pneumatic components thus reducing the risk of accidents caused during start up.

Note:Turning the adjustable needle clockwise, increases the time delay for full pressure and viceversa.
